Former Army Command Sgt. Maj. Kirk L. Ray faces 12 individual allegations under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, grouped under four charges. Ray was charged September 9, according to the Army’s Office of Special Trial Counsel. He has not been convicted, and the case remains in the pretrial stage. Ray, 44, served as the senior enlisted adviser for U.S. Army Garrison Poland from Aug. 16, 2023, through Nov. 26, 2024. After leaving Poland, he became the command sergeant major for the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, at Fort Stewart, Georgia. The Army alleges multiple acts of domestic violence against Ray’s wife during his Poland assignment between December 2023 and June 2024. The charge sheet also includes allegations of assault, threats, extramarital sexual conduct, and stealing prescription medication from a family member in Poznan. Additional allegations concern an August 2025 incident involving his wife at Fort Stewart and an alleged November 2025 assault of another family member there. The case identifies two alleged victims. The Office of Special Trial Counsel said a pretrial hearing set for Oct. 6 was postponed because of a scheduling conflict and is expected to be reset later in October. A hearing is not a conviction. The court-martial process still has to determine what happened and whether any allegation is proven. Ray’s case is significant because of the positions he held: senior enlisted adviser at USAG Poland and command sergeant major for a 3rd Infantry Division armored brigade. #crime #army #poland #ucmj #miltok
