A good construction tool should eliminate steps. This one seems to ADD them. 👀 Instead of measuring every stud individually along a long frame, Brad points out that a much quicker approach is to stack the top and bottom plates together and lay out all of the stud locations in one pass. One tape measure. Both plates marked together. Keep moving. That’s also where those familiar layout marks on a tape measure become useful for common framing spacing. So watching someone repeatedly reposition a specialty tool, measure again, mark again, move again… Brad isn’t impressed. 😂 He’s also questioning the roughly 14-inch spacing shown in the demonstration, since typical framing layouts are more commonly based around 16 or 24 inches on center depending on the design. Maybe the tool looks clever in a short video. On an actual jobsite?
