Spoiler: I freed the baby birds! (From being stuck to the inside) I’m finally branching out to other bird species besides hens for my “mamaracas” (mama + maraca, because there’s no official name for my rattling creation of a ceramic mother bird with her babies inside, and the portmanteau is too good!). I chose quail because they are so adorable - their little head feathers are too cute! Baby quail even have little head feathers, so of course the inside birdies have those. More mamaraca bird species to come! I painted the birdies with underglaze, which has a similar composition to clay slip. Therefore the baby birds were not going to stick as they would if I had covered them with glaze.
