Hook
Here are the rules to working from home, as someone who has worked from home for almost two years. Number one, and I swear by this one, once you wake up, you have to get out of your house. Immediately upon waking up, you have to get out of your house, whether that be a workout class, going on a walk, going on a walk with a friend, going to a coffee shop, whatever it is. I have found that once you wake up, change your scenery immediately before you start your workday, it's way better versus waking up at like 8:45, rolling out of bed, and starting your workday in your pajamas. Just not as good. Scenery is key. Number two, I feel like you actually have to get dressed for the day. You actually have to get dressed for the day, put on clothes, put on makeup, do your hair, whatever you need to do to feel good. I feel like actually feeling good and looking good helps with productivity versus just like, just like not showering all day. Like no. Like get ready for the day, get dressed, even if it's just like in a daily drill set, just like whatever would make you feel good. Key, key part. The most important rule is once the day ends, you have to close your laptop, pack it all up. Out of sight, out of mind. I work from my kitchen table, I don't have an office in my house, so this is my office at the kitchen table, which is literally fine, it works great for me. But at the end of the day, I pack it all up, I put it in my work bag, and I put my work bag up. Like don't leave it out, don't leave it lingering, like you have to just like out of sight, out of mind. If you work at an, like if you have an office in your house, like closing the door. Important rule that goes hand in hand with the first rule is once you finish your workday, change of scenery immediately. Change of scenery. Like it is not good to be in your house all day long. Like you have to get up in the morning, get out of the house, like see the sunlight, and same at the end of the day, you have to like go on a walk, go run some errands, go do whatever you need to do to signal to your brain that the workday is over. The workday is done, we're done, pack it up, switching gears, and you just have to like find routine to help you switch gears. Those are my rules for working from home.
