Easy Halloween Sugar Cookies 🎃 Ingredients: 225g unsalted butter, softened at room temperature 200g granulated sugar 1 large egg 2 tsp vanilla extract (or your favorite flavoring) 1 tsp orange or lemon zest (optional) 440g all-purpose flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt Instructions: 1. Prep the butter: Bring the butter to room temperature (about 30–45 minutes beforehand) until soft to the touch but still holds its shape. 2. Cream butter and sugar: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, sugar, and vanilla extract with a hand mixer on medium speed for about 3 minutes until light, pale, and fluffy. 3. Add egg and zest: Add the egg and citrus zest (if using) and beat until fully incorporated and smooth. 4. Sift dry ingredients: Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt, then sift twice. Add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients in a few batches, folding gently with a spatula. 5. Brief mix: Beat with the mixer on low speed for just 30 seconds until the dough comes together. Do not overmix, or the cookies will turn tough. 6. Gather the dough: Transfer to a clean surface and gently press the dough together just until smooth and cohesive. 7. Divide and chill: Divide the dough into two equal portions, flatten each slightly into a disk, wrap tightly in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours. 8. Roll out and cut: Lightly flour your work surface and the top of the dough. Using a rolling pin, roll out the chilled dough to an even thickness of about 0.5 cm (1/4 inch). Cut out shapes using your favorite Halloween cookie cutters. 9. Flash freeze: Place the cut cookies on a lined tray and freeze for 10–15 minutes so they hold their crisp shape while baking. 10. Bake: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Arrange cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, just until the edges are lightly golden. Let them cool completely before decorating. Note: The cookies will feel very soft right after coming out of the oven—do not leave them in the oven for too long, or they will dry out. Let them sit on the baking sheet for a few minutes; they will firm up as they cool. Happy baking! 🎃✨ #halloweencookies #sugarcookies #halloweenfood #bakingvideo #cookietime
