HEAD ON (2006) by CAI GUO-QIANG . 99 life-sized wolves charge through the air, forming a sweeping arc before crashing into an invisible glass wall. Some fall to the ground, while others continue forward in an endless cycle. Created by Chinese contemporary artist Cai Guo-Qiang, Head On (2006) is a monumental installation made from gauze, resin, and animal hide, with each wolf meticulously constructed to appear lifelike. Originally exhibited at the Deutsche Guggenheim in Berlin, the work explores collective behavior, ideological barriers, and the consequences of blindly following others. The number 99 references the idea of endless repetition in Taoist symbolism. #art #artist #niche #wolf #sculpture
