There’s nothing quite as f*cking miserable as being forced to have fun at work. You’ve spent all week with these people. You’ve sat through 14 meetings, answered 300 emails and listened to someone called Darren talk about synergy. And now, apparently, you need to bond. So you’re standing in a field in Warrington, building something out of spaghetti, while a grown man with a headset tells you to SHOW SOME ENTHUSIASM. Or you’re at an industry awards night, applauding your CEO for winning an award he nominated himself for. Or it’s Friday afternoon and someone’s decided that what everyone really needs after 40 hours on Teams is another hour on Teams, but this time with alcohol. Look, there’s nothing wrong with companies organising nice things for their employees. Some people genuinely love them. But the moment you make fun compulsory, it stops being fun. And there’s always one person who absolutely f*cking loves it. They’ve organised the quiz. They’ve made a playlist. They’ve bought props. They’re shouting, “COME ON EVERYONE, LET’S HAVE SOME FUN!” Meanwhile, everyone else is wondering whether it’s too late to fake a family emergency. What’s the worst bit of forced corporate fun you’ve ever had to endure? #corporatelife #worklife #corporate #career
