15 years ago, when we started Twitch, there weren't a lot of examples of Asian American founders out there. And a lot of times, Asian American culture does not lend itself towards taking giant entrepreneurial risks. Often we think it's important to get a stable job, become a doctor, a lawyer, an engineer. But the truth is, anyone can become a founder if they're willing to do the work and take that very first step. So a couple of things to keep in mind. Number one, your first step is the hardest. The key is to just build momentum by taking the smallest possible step towards building your company that you can. That could look like recruiting a co-founder, working on a prototype of your product, anything. Number two, remember that success is not overnight and it takes many, many years to make a great company. So you better be working on something that you really, really love doing.
