My popular demand this is part two of what I think you do based off of your engineering role. If you've been an engineering manager for less than three years, you're probably still trying to figure out how to manage people. And if you've been an engineering manager for more than three years, you're probably a good manager by now, but you probably forgot how to code. If you work in DevOps, you're probably just a software engineer with a lot more on call and you're honestly probably doing two jobs for the price of one. Also, as a side note, I didn't realize that transparent PNGs would become the background. If you're a site reliability engineer, no one notices you when the site is running just fine, but everybody notices you if the site goes down. Also, you probably live in Splunk. If you're a software architect, you're probably really good at drawing diagrams by now. And at this point, you've probably written more documentation and draw more diagrams than probably code. If you're a QA engineer, does at least one person on the team hate you because you wrote a bug into one of the testing frameworks?
