Making $ by living

Wow, this place is really nice. I bet it costs you a fortune. No, no, bro, not really. In fact, it doesn't cost me anything at all. What, do you like getting a discount or something? You know the landlord? Oh no, bro. I am the landlord. Oh, so you own it. I mean, you still have to pay a mortgage, right? Interest rates, utilities, property taxes, things like that? Yeah, all those things are in my name, but I don't actually pay them. And this property is actually a duplex, so I rent out the other half of it. My mortgage is only 1400 a month. I rent that side out for 2000. So the 1400 covers it. I have an extra 600 to cover all the other expenses. Not only that, but I actually make money owning this property since my tenant pays down into the equity. Between that, appreciation and tax write-offs, I get to live rent-free and it's kind of like a little side gig. Huh. I never thought of that. But I imagine it's pretty annoying since you live right next to your tenant. Doesn't he like call you in case anything goes wrong? Yeah, he doesn't know that I'm the landlord.
