finance fun fact there is a publicly traded company that has been providing monthly dividend distributions for the last 29 years the company is called Realty Income and it's an investor favorite not only have they not interrupted their monthly dividend distributions they've also increased it for the last 104 quarters consecutively Realty Income is a REIT it's publicly treated under ticker $O just the letter O and it operates and owns something like 13,000 properties around the world they have a very diverse geographic base and tenant base as well but one thing you'll notice is most of their tenants are actually retailers retailers like grocery stores like Walmart or drugstores like CVS or convenience stores like 7-11 many of these retailers are non-discretionary and they also have a pretty low price point for the products that they're selling Realty Income has a 99% occupancy rate remarkably high and its track record in terms of paying dividends shows how well this company has been managed I think the only knock that investors have on Realty Income is its low growth rate especially in recent years but if you look at its compound annual growth rate since it went public in 1994 you'll see that its CAGR of 14.2% still handily beats the S&P 500's total return hope you enjoyed this
