Sabrina Carpenter is living proof that it takes 10 years to become an overnight success and that sometimes the universe is preparing you for your moment even when you don't realize what that moment actually is yet. Right, she entered a ten year contract at 14 years old. Five studio albums with Disney, two years per album. Like that is ten years of labor as a teenager, not to mention she's like filming a TV show, doing movies all at the same time. And clearly like Disney did not really promote her music that much, was not really like amplifying her in any way. Eventually she gets out of this contract early and what is her first big break after that? She gets cast on Broadway as Katie Heron in the Broadway production of Mean Girls with Renee Rap. This is in March of 2020. She does like two or three shows and then the global pandemic comes and completely removes the show off Broadway. Like her golden opportunity to finally escape from under Disney taken away from her, right? So she goes in hiatus for a year and then after that is when this whole Joshua Bassett drama in the High School Musical thing with Olivia Rodrigo starts to come out and she starts getting death threats. She is again like being a personally attacked when at like in hindsight, this was really just like what teenagers dating their co workers, which is something like we've all done and was blown way out of proportion. However, she was literally receiving death threats, so she goes on hiatus again. Finally in 2022 releases emails I can't send, her first album outside of the Disney grasp, right? It is having mild success and then she finally decides to go on tour. It wasn't even blowing up for the music in the beginning. It was the nonsense outros. That was the first thing that like brought her into mainstream and really exposed her to all of these people again, like almost 10 years after she ever put out her first album. Then a year after that, finally she gets put on the openers for the Eras Tour with Taylor Swift and Sabrina has said that like she has really fallen in love with this concept of a slow rise and that sometimes the universe is preparing you for your moment and you don't realize why because now she is the opener of the largest tour in the world like in history, right? And you see the videos of like how good she is on that stage and how she kills it and like I'm not sure if she would have been able to do that in front of a crowd that size had she not had to spend years going on tours being seasoned like writing music, putting out five albums now like that is the magic. It's just she didn't know what the universe was preparing her for but it was preparing her for this that she was going to get to be on the largest tour in history after years of honing her craft and really showing up for herself. Um she finally had that moment and I think like what anyone has to learn from this is that the only way you can guarantee you will never get there is if you gave up. Right there were so many moments she could have given up but her refusal to do that and to keep pushing forward made it so this entire years of experience all accumulated together in a perfect beautiful moment and the rest is history.
