Here's what it cost me to run a profitable micro-SaaS app. Here's the app, it's called CoverLetterGPT.xyz. It's a real simple GPT wrapper, open source, so you can even see the code. It's nothing special, but check it out if you want. Like I said, it's a GPT wrapper, so hitting ChatGPT via the API, um, at about 1.5 thousand requests per month, cost me only a little more than $2. And if you know anything about how large language models work, that is 1.5 million input and output tokens. This app has gotten me about $9,000 of revenue and most of its profit because the other cost that's the major cost is the hosting of the app, which only cost me about $10 a month maximum on Railway.com because the front end is hosted on Netlify for free. So yeah, the server on Railway is costing me from anywhere from $8 to $10 a month. App has been running for about a year and a half, so those monthly costs times 16 months equals about $250, $300 maximum. Yeah, so $9,000 minus $300 bucks, I've made $8,700 profit for a little micro-SaaS app. If you wanna check it out, go to CoverLetterGPT.xyz. It's open source and you can run it yourself and yeah, the code's not great, it's a simple app but it works.
