I went to film school so you don't have to. I was just going through my Bible. These are my notes from my absolute favorite class that I ever took at Emerson. The class was the business of media. This is the list of just some of the topics that we went over in this class. Raising money, grants, fiscal sponsors, crowdfunding, corporate, government, non-cash contributions, etc. Development proposals, budgeting, different business models, chain of title, E&O insurance, copyright and fair use, distributors and how to know when you're getting screwed over, what markets, licensing and territories that you have for distribution, what legal documents that you need for production, and so much more. It was taught by Catherine Deets who is an amazing documentary filmmaker. She's actually raised over $15 million for her film projects and she won the Ken Burns Library of Congress award last year. If you're intrigued, please write in the comments what you actually want to learn about most because I want to share the knowledge that I have to help my community here and I'll make videos about it tomorrow going over the specific topics that you guys ask for.
