Everyone thinks they're a 7/10

Nobody talks about this, but the reason why everybody thinks they're a 7 is because nobody in America wants to be average at anything. Like if you ask most people to rate themselves on a scale of 1 to 10, I don't care if they look like goddamn Beetlejuice in his prime, they're going to look at you with a straight face and tell you, 7. And with all due respect to Beetlejuice, gang, that's just not accurate. But when you realize that people aren't saying that they're a 7 because they want to lie, but strictly because they don't want to be seen as average, then it starts to make a lot more sense. Think of it, nobody wants to be average height, have an average income, or live an average life, even though by definition, most people are average. So this is pretty much why you can never ask somebody to rate themselves on a scale of 1 to 10, because 9 times out of 10, they're going to tell you 7 out of 10.
