Who's the father of these guys? Abraham. And he was given a promise by God that he would have an heir, right? Amen. And who got upset? Who who who got upset in this? What was her name? Abraham and Sarah. Yes. Couldn't wait on the promise and Sarah's like, go have sex with And uh what's her name? Oh, I Now you got me. It's uh uh oh what's her name? Well, we know you guys Hagar. And there you go. Thank you. Hagar. And has Ishmael, because Sarah's like, yeah, go do this. We need we need an heir. So Ishmael is alive for 12 years. Don't think Abraham hasn't fallen in love with his son. Cuz it's still his son, not not hers. Ishmael is around for 12 years and gets upset about this because Ishmael's real mother is giving her a hard time. Yes, she is. So Sarah's like, bet. That brother needs to know. And Abraham's like, no, that's my son. And he goes to God and God's like, yeah, you need to send him away. What? Yeah, you need to send Ishmael away. Well, he's my son. I understand. Send him away. So some relationships you guys have, some relationships you have need to go away. Okay. Bye, Ishmael. And don't think it didn't hurt Abraham. He is a man. It hurt him to let him He even bragged about Then comes Isaac. The promise, the heir. Now check this out. They go up, and I think it's Genesis 12 or 15, I can't remember. So Isaac is going up to the mountain with Abraham, and God is upset with Abraham just a bit because he's like, uh, I want you to give up Isaac now. Now, I don't know about you, but when God is like messing with me like this, I'm like, okay, look, you know, I'm 99. I got rid of the other one at 75 or 99. Hey, I can't have any more kids. You want me to kill him? Oh my gosh. But you know what? I'm going to trust you in this one because the other one, I tried doing it and I messed it up. So at some point, you're going to pass the test. And you're going to trust him. That's the key. Because what he said in Genesis 12, he's they go up and he tells his servants, I and the lad are going up and we'll come back. So he has faith. He's going to come back even though he is an offer. So they go up. Isaac is building the altar. Wood starts it and he says, Father, where is the lamb? Abraham says something so incredible. He says, God will provide a lamb. And it's the first prophetic utterance of the Lamb of God in scripture. And when Jesus shows up and John the Baptist says, behold the Lamb of God, it fulfilled the prophetic word of Abraham. Let's get back to Isaac. Right when he's getting ready to and an angel stops him. And what does the angel say to him? Now I know that you love the Lord. Yep, that you love me more than you love your son. What this is about is very simple. Misprioritized love. When God created us and he gave the Ten Commandments, he said, thou shalt love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and your neighbor as yourselves. Misprioritized love. We are created to be worshippers and we're created to love him first. Amen. And the Isaacs should never been there. And he'll bring you the promise and when he brings you the promise, he expects you to keep the promise second next to him. If not, you'll get a soul tie. And you'll start loving the things of what he gives you, the gifts more than the giver. And that's kind of called idolatry. Many people love the spiritual gifts God's given them and they end up worshipping that gift and finding their identity in that gift and they create a soul tie to their own spiritual gift. And the gift goes wrong.
