I JUST THINK THIS IS A REALLY IMPORTANT MOMENT WE'RE ALL GOING THROUGH RIGHT NOW. AND YES, IT IS ALL CHANGING FAST, BUT I THINK THERE'S AN OPTIMISTIC SIDE TO THIS AS WELL.

This might make you mad, it might make you amazed. I think everybody should watch it. This is Beggar's Canyon. This is a Star Wars fan film made with AI tools. It is seven minutes long. I believe everybody who follows me here should watch this. Probably a lot of other people should watch this because what it is is an amazing display of what's possible right now and also some of the issues we're going to run into with AI films and all the stuff that you can do with them now. So Beggar's Canyon is a Star Wars epic featuring Luke Skywalker. It is set somewhere, I think in between the original film and Return of the Jedi, so he is on Tatooine. It is just very well made. It is seven minutes, it is edited well, it is all generated with AI. There are definitely things that are not perfect in it, like the acting can be a little wooden at times, but I think this is a really good example of what can be done right now. So what are some of the issues? Well, obviously, I don't think Lucas has approved this. Now it is still up on YouTube. They have not taken it down. I've seen a lot of people mad about the fact that this uses Star Wars IP, but you have to remember, Disney just did the deal with Sora, so they may not be against this. I think the bigger idea that you can't miss here is that this was made by again, one person using AI tools at home. And in this case, they're using a story that already has a place in your mind. Now, some may call that a cheat, other people might be like, great, go for it. You're not going to make any money on it, which is probably true, but ultimately, I think Disney will embrace this sort of thing. I think the question that's really important to ask yourself is, do you think this is bad or good for creativity? My stance is that I believe that it actually can be good for creativity. Not only do you give young people, say, kids, the ability to understand how to make films, how to tell better stories, getting better feedback, but also, I think it could lead to an opening of more Star Wars stuff in the world. Now, again, you may be a purist and I understand that. You may say that they didn't have any rights to use this stuff. They didn't have any rights to go do this. Totally fair. But I'll also give you the sense of like what happens with the fanfiction space. Fanfiction, you know, has been around for as long as the internet, probably longer. I'm sure there are people in the, you know, 1600s who were writing fanfiction that we just don't know about. That has opened the door to a lot of people learning to be writers. And of course, you have a book like Fifty Shades of Grey that came out of the fanfiction space. That was a fanfiction piece around the Twilight characters originally. I just think this is a really important moment we're all going through right now and yes, it is all changing fast, but I think there's an optimistic side to this as well.
