This is a big deal. It's a little bit of an admission that they might be falling behind Anthropic in the race to coding supremacy. But more than that, like this is also giving up a pretty big chunk of the AI race to companies like Google or Seedance, aka CapCut. AI video is extremely expensive to serve and to create. It just takes a chunk of money, maybe OpenAI is feeling the pressure to get to profitability sooner. There have been stories that they are trying to focus more on business and enterprise users, but this is a big deal.
