I used to complain all the time navigating college alone, about not knowing what career to choose, staying up late just to cram for exams and how overwhelming it all felt, especially as a first gen. And honestly, it is hard. But not knowing what to do with your life because you have an abundance of options is actually such a privilege. It is so easy to always wish you had more, but we rarely think about existing lives that are worth cherishing. And more importantly, how we have an obligation to give back with what we have. There are women in Egypt, not different than me, just as intelligent, just as capable, never got the chance to discover their full potential because they were too busy surviving. What a blessing it is to be tired in the pursuit of something meaningful. What a blessing it is to learn to think critically and to understand the world beyond where I was born into. Your education is not a burden nor a barrier, it is a bridge. A bridge that allows you to give back across languages, cultures, continents. You for world threatened are silenced.
