At the moment you turn 18, you have to open a Roth IRA, but no one ever taught me that, so I started it at 22. When I made a video on it, so many people had questions, so here is everything you need to know. 1. How important is it? People ask if it is really that important. Let me just put it into perspective for you. If you open a Roth IRA at 20 years old and you max it out every single year, by 67, it is going to compound to $4 million of untaxable retirement money. 2. Roth IRA vs 401k is, what is the difference between a Roth IRA and a 401k? With a Roth IRA, you get taxed on the income you put on there, so when you take it out in the future, you are not going to get taxed on it. And some people have both at the same time, especially if their employer offers 401k matches. 3. What age/income do you need to start? The answer is, as soon as you turn 18, you can open one, and you can start off with any small amount, even $20 goes a long way. 4. Is it haram? For my Muslims, a lot of people are worried that it is haram. If you invest in halal sharia-compliant ETFs, you should be fine, especially because this is not the same as a high-yield savings account where there is interest. What is actually happening is you own an actual part of different companies when you invest in them. And as the economy progresses, your money compounds with the economy, so it reflects wherever we are economically. I am still learning, so I will share anything I come across as I go, and follow for more.
