How to start successful government contracting

I wanna get into government contracting but I'm not sure how. These are the steps that you're going to take to win your first government contract in 2026. 1. Form a business entity First, you'll start with a simple legal business entity. An LLC works just fine. You can operate as a sole proprietorship or a non-profit for the vast majority. Just get your LLC. And then you're gonna get registered. 2. Create registration profiles Every state has a procurement website. All of your counties, all of your universities, colleges, go and get registered. This takes a little bit of time at the start, but this really sets up your pipeline for later so that you have a ton of opportunities to choose from. 3. Certify your business And then as a bonus, you're also gonna get certified in these places. If your state offers a certification for a woman-owned business or maybe a minority or a veteran-owned business, get those certifications if and when you're eligible so that you get an advantage in the market. 4. Learn the process And finally, a lot of it is paperwork. And so you'll have to learn how to read solicitations and respond to them effectively. In business, we do not just throw things at the wall and expect something to stick. We are strategic in our efforts.
