I just got a raise at work so let's go over my salary progression as a junior level software engineer at Amazon. If the topic of money makes you uncomfortable then feel free to scroll away. I joined Amazon as a new grad in 2024 and my total compensation looked like this. It was $148,000 in base pay, $48,000 in sign on bonus and at the end of the year my RSUs vested at $8,000. This gave me a grand total of $204,000 for the first year. Moving on to year two I got a 1% raise in my base pay, moving it to $150,000 a year. I then got another sign on bonus which was $36,000 and my RSUs for that year vested at $33,000. This gave me a grand total of $219,000 for the year two. I'm moving on to my current year three. I just got a 10% raise in my base pay, moving it to $165,000 a year. I get no more sign on bonuses and my RSUs are yet to vest but they're approximately going to clock in at around $76 to $80,000. This will bring my grand total to around two hundred and forty to $250,000 for the year three. I'm super happy about my raise. It's not necessarily a promotion. I'm still a junior software engineer but hopefully that will come soon if I perform well enough. I'm really blessed to have these kinds of numbers at my age and overall I really love what I do, which is even more of a blessing.
