You're looking to book your next group trip and I'm here to tell you why it should be Porto. Welcome back to day two, episode two of the Porto Diaries. We're going to call this one the four hour dinner. It'll make sense later. Today was a food tour, so here's everything we ate day two. We started at this cafe called Hakko. I ordered a matcha and Merry bought these delicious cardamom saffron cinnamon rolls from another bakery and I still dream about them. After breakfast we chilled for a little and changed for lunch and we went to this beautiful restaurant called Praia Da Luz right on the beach overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The restaurant had a hidden entrance so you couldn't see the view until you turned the corner but when you walked down the stairs absolutely breathtaking. And of course we had the best seat in the house right next to the ocean. It was windy but it was worth it. The seafood was so fresh. I felt bad for eating in front of their cousins but the sardines, prawns and tuna tartare had to be some of the best I've ever had. And if you didn't know, Portugal is actually renowned for its seafood, especially its tinned fish for all my fellow sardine lovers out there. And I was trying to be nice and make friends with this pigeon but she was playing so forget her. After lunch we called a car and headed back to the Airbnb to rest and relax before refreshing and getting ready for dinner. Madi made us a really cute charcuterie board and this was my outfit for the night, something calm, something cute. And before I knew it we were off to the infamous four hour dinner. It was at this experiential restaurant called The Door and to give you some context, I didn't research anything so I didn't necessarily know what to expect, but by the end of this night, none of us knew where this was going. And he had the funniest waiter Lausha who basically explained that the chef will decide our meal and all we had to do was tell them our dietary restrictions and he would surprise us from there. The only thing we could order was our drinks, so we started with passion fruit martini and then he started coming out with the surprises y'all. Not to my recollection, we had smoked baba ganoush, spicy hummus and this delectable white fish ceviche before the street lights went out. After about two hours and four courses later, then it was time for the grilled scallops and clam shells. As I told you before, you can enjoy it, you can fall in love with it, but don't bite the stones, okay? You thought that was it? No. Of course number five, six and seven we had nori tacos, two kinds of Argentine empanadas and skirt steak. At this point stomachs started to get full and we were getting delirious but the food was so good we couldn't actually be mad. And then Lausha came back with course number eight for what? Can you tell I enjoyed it? Okay. Guys, we are on hour three and I just ate a duck and I'm feeling really like I had to take a break like no I had to take a break. Then it was finally time for dessert which was delicious. We had sticky toffee pudding and like a chocolate mousse. And then Lausha gave us the sweetest toast which he said is his favorite part of the whole dinner. He couldn't go too long without being an absolute troll like he's so funny. He's such a sour patch like. The best of the years for good travels, amazing experience, a beautiful life and for everything that you deserve. Cheers. And that was day two of Porto. All the food was so incredible, the people were so sweet and y'all have to stay tuned for the rest of the diaries.
