I finally found a place to ride in the city and I'm so excited to share it with you guys. Like this might be my favorite video ever. First, I bought a lot of water before making the train to Prospect Park. I booked my lesson with Manhattan Riding Club. I booked their Brooklyn hack lesson for level 2B+ riders. I arrived 15 minutes early and got fitted for my helmet which they provide before starting the grooming and tacking process with my horse. His name is Texas Toast, Texas for short, and he was the sweetest boy ever. I first learned to ride when I was nine years old and grew up riding English on my two horses, Banjo and Chili, until I was about 18. I'm 24 now and I've been out the saddle for a while, mainly because I couldn't find a place to ride consistently that was close to me. But I'm so glad to get back and was so happy to tack again. But you can tell I'm a little rusty because why did I put the saddle pad backwards? I fixed it though, don't come for me. After tacking, we mounted in the closed arena at the stable before heading off to Prospect Park arena. But before we got there, we had a cute little trail ride. The horses were really well behaved because we passed by so much activity in the park. There were dogs, soccer games, so much going on. But they all remained calm and non-reactive the entire time, so I felt super safe. When we finally made it to the ring, we did so much riding, walk, trot, and canter. I couldn't record it all, but here's me and Texas doing a trot canter lap at the end of the lesson. It was actually a very good lap. He's very tall and naturally strong, so I definitely need to work back on my rein strength and control. But I kept a good seat and good balance up until this point. The horses don't stop, they keep going. I was fine though, equestrian girlies know it's a part of the game. I got back on and we rode back to the stable where I untacked him and we actually got to rinse the horses off as well to help them cool down from all the hard work that they did. I gave him lots of hugs and kisses so he knew he didn't do anything wrong, and I'm so excited to start riding again and hopefully me and Texas continue to work together.
