Okay, I'll tell you guys how we ended up on this boat in the middle of the Douro River.

Okay, I'll tell you guys how we ended up on this boat in the middle of the Douro River. That somehow got some of y'all in a tizzy. Welcome to day four, episode four of the Porto Diaries. Today was Zee's birthday, so me and Selly woke up early to go to the market and get some fruit and groceries to make her a surprise breakfast. Everything came out super cute and the food was so good. Guys, Selly lowkey makes like the best eggs. Then we had to get dressed super quick because we were booked for a wine tour for Zee's birthday and we had to Uber about 15 minutes to the tour bus pickup point. And after about an hour of driving, we finally made it to our first winery. It was a family-owned winery that specialized in organic wines, no use of pesticides, everything was natural, and they had the cutest dog. This is Selly giving us a tour of her property. I'm kidding. The owner was like a serial entrepreneur. He owned a few restaurants in Porto as well as this winery, and he was actually so funny. He was talking about how he makes wine better than his dad and how nobody else's wine we taste today will taste better than his. Then he gave us a quick break to take photos and, you know, I tried. We walked around the winery a bit before our lunch break. It was technically a palate cleanser. They served us cheese, peppers, chorizo, and bread in between wine. We tried a total of three wines, one sparkling white, one red, and a rosé. I think my favorite was the sparkling, but they all were good. And he gifted Zee a bottle of rosé, which was so sweet. Took my pictures and then we headed back to the bus. I swear they sprayed Nike in the air because every time we got on that bus, I had the most dramatic nap of my life. And that was just for my favorite part of the day. The boat tour. The views in the Douro Valley are straight out of a postcard. We walked about 10 minutes to the dock and they split us up into two groups. They put all the youngins on a boat, which is like the best decision ever. We made memories for life on this boat. They gave us the aux, so you know the music was jumping and we met these two other girls from New York and our French-Canadian friends who were doing a boys trip. You know me and my friends, we talk with our hands a lot, me especially. So we were just clocking it left and right and the boys were like, what does that mean? So naturally, a part of me was like, gatekeep it. We were just like, it means tea. It means, yeah, he want to hang with a baddie. And then they helped us take our group photos and we just started having a ball on that boat. And you know we had to bring New York to Porto. After our boat party, we went on to the last stop of the tour, which was at another winery. We walked up this hill overlooking these breathtaking views and again, they had the most gorgeous dogs ever. They were all so friendly, but this dog was the sweetest and the German Shepherd was just so gorgeous. Like guys, look at him. He's I want to take him home. We were actually having dinner here. It was like a farm-to-table dinner and they started us off with this sweet port wine, which was insane. I think it was my favorite wine of the entire day. For dinner, they had an assortment of things. There was like beef tips, pasta, salad, vegetables, cod fritters, and a few other things in addition to more wine, of course, it is a wine tour. And for the rest of the evening, it was red wines only. And to preface, I'm no sommelier, but they tasted good to me and the wine connoisseurs there said it was some of the best they ever had. We noticed the sun was setting, so we took our glasses outside to look at the views and take in the moment. And guys, it was so beautiful and peaceful and eye-opening and it's an experience I think everybody should have. Like words can't even describe how incredible this day was. And to end off the night, our guide treated us to an 100-year-old port wine, which was really special. It was so cool to see how the fermentation process can change the taste of wine drastically. And then we headed back on the bus and had our nightcap at our favorite spot, Basco's. The boys ended up coming with us because it was their last night in Porto before they headed to Morocco, I think it was. We just had to sit and debrief our entire day because it was so amazing. And then we met this gorgeous queen who was so nice. She was a local. Then it was finally time to head back home, eat our Caesar salads and watch Hannah Montana. And that's the story of our boat day.
