Remember the top of the year when I said I wanted to be hotter, smarter, and richer? Well, I've gotten hotter, thanks to my girl Kibbe, and we're working on the richer part, but smarter is the one where I've been putting in a lot of work. Here's what I've been doing to make my brain bigger. I've been reading more. I subscribe to The Cut and the New York Times. Excellent journalism, by the way. And I'm not just saying that because I was featured in a New York Times article recently. I also started reading more nonfiction. I finally finished this book and I have been loving Start With Yourself by Emma Grede. I've also been taking Spanish lessons. Like 10 years ago, the state of New York gave me an advanced Regents diploma and said I was fluent in Spanish, and that's just simply not true. I've been using Preply twice a week, meeting with my tutor, and my Spanish is getting so much better. I'm also making all of my friends who are native Spanish speakers speak to me in Spanish. Spanish is getting a little better. Un poquito. Just a little bit. Just a little bit. Also been upping my financial acumen. A few of my college friends started Girl Math Capital, which is an alternative investment community for women. I joined in their most recent cohort, and I have learned so much about angel investing, alternative investments, venture capital, doing due diligence for an investment. Things that honestly, I would have loved to have learned in business school, but I could never get in those classes. They were always full. I also had the opportunity to invest in some really, really cool companies through Girl Math. So my brain is getting bigger, but baby, in a couple years, my pockets will be fatter, in Jesus' name. Another friend of mine, Caitlyn, started Miss Empowher, which is a women's empowerment community. And every single event that is hosted by Miss Empowher, I feel like I leave just a little bit smarter. I meet so many women who are at the top of their game at these events. I personally believe that being smart is one of the sexiest things you can do as a woman, and I have plans to get smarter every single day.
