So Microsoft is canceling Claude Code licenses for its employees, but I don't think it's just because it sucks or it's expensive. Hear me out. There's two problems at individual and organization level for AI adoption. First, which is so common and frustrates the heck out of me is using the top model for literally everything. I still use Sonnet 4.6 for a lot of my tasks. Now, I'm not a Lamborghini owner, but if I had one, I'm not gonna use my premium car for every single time I have to drive somewhere. But if I complain that it's expensive. You gotta learn how to balance using the right models so you can get better results and not burn all your money. Number two is the whole token, it's the worst to AI after AI itself. I don't know when and how companies decided that the more you use it, it just means better you're at using AI. We're not celebrating a perspective of efficiency in their use or just how much tokens they can burn regardless of what it's just plain stupid. No wonder these companies are seeing exploding cost of using AI without ROI. Also, it might be a strategic play for Microsoft to just promote their own GitHub Copilot and then turn this into a marketing narrative for GitHub Copilot being the most efficient because coding with AI is sure not going away.
