Aging is the equivalent of being in a long term relationship with yourself. Now just follow me here. The longer that you know someone, the deeper you get to know them, right? You know, at first, you only know the surface level version of that person. Then over time, you start understanding their patterns and their triggers, their humor, their insecurities, their needs, their values. Well, to me, getting older feels the exact same way. And what's so funny is that I used to think that I was constantly changing, but now I actually think that I was getting closer to the core of who I've always been. Like every year, I peel back another layer or I go a level deeper. For example, now I actually understand what I want, what drains me, what matters to me, what I'm no longer willing to tolerate, what parts of myself are performative versus truth. And I've got to say, that's what I've loved most about getting older. Not becoming someone new, just becoming more honest about who I already was.
