If you don't know how port forwarding works, you're not getting into I.T. But don't worry bro, I got you. Just save this video for later. Port forwarding basically allows devices outside of your network to connect to a specific device inside of your network. So let's say that you want to host a website on your computer that your friend can access even if he's not on your Wi-Fi. Well, if he goes to Google and just types in your public IP address, nothing would come up. And that's because the request is going to your router, but your router doesn't know where to route the data because everything on your internet has the same exact public IP address. But port forwarding basically tells your router, yo bro, if anyone tries talking to us on our public IP with the port 1234, send that traffic to me because it's for my website. Then Mr. Router says, I got you, Crody. And now every single time your friend types in your public IP address with the port after it, it takes them to the website that is being hosted on your computer. And this is exactly how people run Minecraft servers, websites, security cameras, etcetera. And now you know how port forwarding works. So go build that home lab and follow me for more I.T. concepts. Thank you.
