How to get into cybersecurity with zero IT experience. So you can start with getting some IT and networking experience, so you need to build those fundamentals. Then you need to learn your cybersecurity fundamentals, so a great certification is of course the CompTIA Security Plus, but not just the Security Plus, actually more than that, the labs themselves that come with Security Plus, because they're going to give you the hands-on skills and hands-on fundamentals. Also, the Google Cybersecurity Certificate is a really great one as well. Then you wanna pick a job. We recommend cybersecurity analyst. That's where I started eight years ago, and it's still a great job to start now, because it's an easy transition from help desk into cybersecurity analyst. You wanna understand SIEM, so you want to understand incident response, you want to understand cloud attack and defense, you want to understand the different cyber attacks that are out there, you want to understand threat hunting, and you want to understand threat intelligence. So these are the things that cybersecurity analysts do on a daily basis. Google each one of these and start to learn about them. Then you want to do some home projects, so each one of these home projects wants to relate to each one of these topics. You can set up your own SIEM at home, so you can set up something like Wazuh, Sentinel, or Elastic SIEM. These then are going to give you that hands-on practical skills, which is going to give you the experience that all these companies are asking for, which is when you're going to be able to apply for jobs, and you want to use a skills-based resume or CV. It works really, really well, and you want to be consistent when you're applying for these jobs, and you have to stay consistent, because if you give up after a few applications, then you're not going to get into the industry.
