If you're still waiting on your 2025 tax refund from the IRS, you are not alone. Historically, refunds arrive within 21 days of filing your tax return and right now the processing time is up to 12 weeks. That is because the IRS has cut its workforce by 27% thanks to DOGE. Then there was the two government shutdowns which just backed things up in general. Then there were new changes to the tax law with the one big beautiful bill, so it can just take longer to process because it's new tax rules. What should you be doing? You can check irs.gov/refunds that will update once per day. Don't call the IRS unless it's been at least 21 days since you e-filed or 6 weeks since you paper filed. Make sure that the IRS has your bank account on file because this year they're being really strict about not issuing checks anymore. You can absolutely call the IRS, just mentally prepare yourself that you might be on hold for a little bit, but it's not a glitch with your bank, it's not something that your accountant can really do anything about. This is on the federal side of things, so keep checking online, keep checking your banks, and I wish you the best of luck. How long have you been waiting for your IRS refund? Let's discuss.
