if you wanna build Music Projects with electronics, then you want this butter yellow board the size of a gum stick. so here's the thing, most microcontrollers out there, your Arduinos, your STM32s, they're general purpose. they're designed to do a little bit of everything. it's kind of a jack-of-all trades situation. but audio is different. you see sound is a continuous wave that needs to be processed in real time with millions of math operations per second. and a general purpose microcontroller was not built for that. it's kind of like using a Swiss Army knife for surgery. the Daisy Seed is what happens when you design a microcontroller around audio: 64 megabytes of onboard memory means that you can store long audio files, which is essential for effects like delay or reverb. it also comes with something called a codec, which transforms raw sound measurements into a digital format that the processor can actually understand and work with. it comes with two different software libraries allowing you to mess with cool musical effects without super complicated coding techniques with this little guy. people have built multi-pedal pitch-shifting systems, granular synthesizers, and even full eurorack modules. there's even this bigger version, the Daisy Pod, which basically comes with all of these buttons and knobs for you to interact with the audio controls. so at the end of the day, they didn't just design a better processor. they rebuilt the entire stack software to hardware around one single theme of audio. and that's an example of good hardware design. instead of adding tons of features, you're removing the ones and keeping the ones necessary to your application. follow for more engineering content
