Here are the three biggest retirement traps that nobody warns you about. I'm Tyler. I'm a former financial advisor and portfolio manager, and now I make financial content for free so you don't have to pay for it. Number one: you can't stop saving. You spent 40 years being rewarded for discipline, and now your brain treats every withdrawal like a house fire. You have $2 million and won't book a vacation because the market dipped 3%. Your Vanguard statement is not a scrapbook. Spend the money. Number two. you have all the time and none of the purpose. Work gave you structure, identity, and people who had to pretend to like you. And retirement doesn't replace any of that automatically. It's a Tuesday at 11:00 am, and you've already reorganized a drawer that didn't need to be reorganized. No. 3. You waited too long. and your body changed the deal. The retirement you imagined at 45 isn't necessarily the one available at 65. Your knees file the formal complaint, long flights now sound more exhausting, and the energy you were counting on downgraded itself without asking. So fix all three right now. Create a Joy Fund. Specific amount you must spend by December 31st or it resets. Build a life outside of work before you need one. And if there's a trip or experience you keep saying you'll take someday, make it happen within the next calendar year. And if any of this is helpful, sign up for my free weekly newsletter, By clicking the link in my bio. And each week, I'll send you over another money playbook that actually works.
