REAL COST OF LIVING IN HAWAI'I as a military family

This is the real cost of living in Hawai'i as a military family. It's been three months since we moved here from Maryland. And so far, this is how it's going. First of all, we opted for living on base and that includes electricity, trash, water. And we pay for that with our BAH, basic housing allowance. But if you want to go live off base, rent is going to be around $2,500 to $4,000 or even more depending on the location and house size. With groceries, already including milk, dog food, diapers and all that. We've been spending around $1,400 a month, which in my opinion, is a lot. WiFi and cable, $160. Two phones and lines with T-Mobile, $146. Our motorcycle payment will be around $260. And the insurance for everything will be around $200. And we're spending $500 a month on gas. Our budgeting goal as a family is that the army will pay for all of our essential expenses, and everything else I make with my business will pay for the rest.
