From struggling with maths in secondary school to a First Class Degree in Computer Science. My journey wasn’t a straight line—it was a series of pivots and the grace of God.
SS2, Grimes International College. I didn’t know what a microcontroller was, but I knew I wanted to solve problems. My friend and I built a centrifugal water pump with a multi-layered filter. No code, just raw physics.
We took 1st Runner Up. That moment changed me. I was appointed JETS Club Project Director. I started trying to build robots with aluminum sheets—no sensors, no firmware, just audacity. I was a "hardware guy" before I even knew the term.
After school, the pressure was real. Everyone said Engineering at UNILAG was the only way. I almost fell for it due to peer influence. But I felt a pull elsewhere. I stepped back and took a leap into the unknown: Computer Science at Caleb University.
Computer Science wasn’t just a course; it was a portal. The logic, the syntax, the ability to breathe life into hardware through code—I fell in love. It became the key that opened doors I didn’t even know existed.
People see the "A" student, but they don’t see the Saturdays and Sundays spent in empty classrooms. While others were resting, I was leading tutorials and completing assignments. Excellence has a price, and I was willing to pay it.
300 Level. I attended the Zenith Tech Fair. Seeing the Flutterwave CEO and other titans reignited something in me. I realized innovation wasn’t just a hobby—it was my purpose. I left that room a different person.
I became the GDSC Robotics Lead for Caleb University. It was there I met Chido Green, the Backend Lead. We were just roommates then, but little did we know we were future co-founders.
400 Level. Our HOD asked the GDSC community a daring question: "Can you create an AI robot for this school?" Most people would have calculated the risks. We just said "Yes."
That "Yes" gave birth to CAIVER (Caleb Artificial Intelligent Versed Robot). We weren’t just building a machine; we were building a statement. Months of sleepless nights, debugging, and mechanical assembly followed.
During the College exhibition, it hit me. I looked at this intelligent creature we created and remembered the boy in SS2 with aluminum sheets and no code. From scrap metal to Artificial Intelligence. I was overwhelmed with joy.
I didn’t stop at CAIVER. I pushed into the Solar Tracking Rover—a dual-axis system designed for extraterrestrial voyages. I wanted to see how far our innovation could go—literally beyond this planet.

Innovation is great, but I refused to let my grades suffer. I wanted the best of both worlds. I worked twice as hard to ensure my GPA kept climbing while my robots kept moving.
I remember talking to my Level Advisor. I had a 4.48 CGPA with one semester left. I asked her if a First Class was still possible. She looked at me and said, "Yes, but you have to give it everything."
How time flies
That last semester was a blur of labs, libraries, and prayers. I was no longer the boy who struggled with maths; I was a man chasing a legacy. Every hour counted.
Final results came out. My heart was pounding. I walked up to my advisor and asked the only question that mattered: "Did I make the First Class?" She looked at me and smiled. "Yes."
I called my Dad immediately. Then my Mom. Hearing the pride in their voices was better than any grade. We had done it.
After graduation, I fell into the trap. The "Illusion of Freedom." I slept, watched movies, and did nothing for three months. But the spark for innovation doesn’t stay quiet for long. I got tired of being comfortable.
December 2025. Chido (my former roommate) and I had a week-long brainstorm. The problem? Mobility in Nigeria. The solution? Naviaride. We decided to build in public, and it’s been the best decision of my life.
