If you have Comcast or Xfinity internet, stop scrolling because this is a big one. Comcast just agreed to a $117.5 million dollar settlement tied to a data breach that allegedly exposed personal information of over 35 million customers. We're talking passwords, partial social security numbers, and other personal information. Here's the part that got my attention... If you received the data breach notification from Xfinity back in December of 2023, you may be eligible to file a claim. Some people can choose a cash payment of $50 without documentation. But if you had out-of-pocket expenses related to the data breach, like credit monitoring for example, you may be able to claim up to $15,000. And they may even compensate you for the time you spent dealing with the fallout from the breach. The deadline to file isn't until September, but if you're anything like me, you'll forget about it by then. So go ahead and like and save this video so that you can come back to it. I've been tracking settlements like this in the Settlemate app because it keeps all these claims in one place and lets me know when deadlines are coming up. Because apparently every company in America is having a data breach these days.
