Hook
You guys wanted more So here are three more things my husband has banned from our house. He works at one of the top cancer research labs here in our area. He has told us to avoid these items, even our children. Number one is old non-stick pans with the coating that's peeling off. Now, this is pretty obvious, but the second that coating starts scratching off, he just throws the pan away. His concern is that tiny pieces of that coating is ending up in your food. And some older non-stick cookware has been associated with PFA's, which are known as the forever chemicals. These chemicals can build up in the body over time and have been linked to several health conditions, including certain cancers, hormone disruption, immune system effects, infertility and more. Number two is certain tampons. After hearing about these lawsuits, specifically involving heavy metals and other toxins in some tampon products, he told me to start paying way more attention to what brands I'm buying. His reasoning is pretty obvious. Tampons are one of the most absorbent areas of the body. Lead and other heavy metals have been associated with health concerns when people are exposed over time, which is why these lawsuits have gotten so much attention. Tampax and Kotex specifically are facing allegations that there is lead in their tampons. The companies are denying wrongdoing. But if you've ever bought these brands, you might wanna pay attention to this too. No. 3 is a weird one. It's black plastic cooking utensils. He says the problem is when they get too old, scratched or start melting from the heat. Over time, worn plastic can break down and researchers have raised concerns about certain chemicals that may migrate into food when plastics are exposed to high temperatures. And his rule is simple: if it's scratched, warped or melting, it gets replaced. I swear I can't buy anything without getting a five-minute lecture now. By the way, if you wanna see if you qualify for that tampon lawsuit, I used the Settlemate app. It took like two minutes to search it up. Not only that, you can find a bunch more lawsuits in there that you might qualify for. Let me know if you want part four.
