My dad works in cybersecurity... and there are two devices he just refuses to have in his house. The first one is smart speakers. Things like Google Home and other Google Assistant enabled devices. He says convenience is great, but he also wants to know exactly who's listening inside his home. And that brings me to why Google is being sued. A $68 million dollar lawsuit claims Google Assistant recorded some people's private conversations, even when they didn't intentionally activate it by saying hey Google or okay Google. The lawsuit also alleges that some of those recordings were collected and shared with third party reviewers. Google denies all of these allegations, but you can still file for this lawsuit if you've ever owned a Google Home, a Nest, or another Google Assistant enabled device. This lawsuit is now open for claims. I found it in the Settlemate app and it only takes a couple minutes to check whether you're eligible before the filing deadline.
