When to use a debit card versus a credit card. A debit card should only be used to grab cash from an ATM or bank. You want to use it for things like Zelle, Venmo, or PayPal. What you have to understand is that a debit card is your money, and if it's stolen, it likely won't come back. And also, if it's stolen, they'll have easy access to all your information. On the other hand, a credit card, I like to use it for everyday purchases, things like online shopping, date night, filling gas. So, what you have to know is that a credit card is the bank's money, and if it's stolen, the bank will fight for it. And that fraud on your credit card is the bank's problem. The nice thing about credit cards is that you also get cash back and reward points for using it. My favorite credit cards are the Amex Gold and the Venture X. So, my credit card live in my wallet and my debit cards live at home.
