Nobody told me that starting a company meant I would eventually become a therapist, a career counselor, a community builder, and a life coach on top of everything else. 😂 But here we are. Here is the uncomfortable truth about building a team that nobody puts in the entrepreneurship highlight reel: your employees are not just people who work for you. They are people building their entire lives around the world you are creating. Their schedules, their friendships, their sense of purpose, their career identity: all of it is partly shaped by the environment you either intentionally build or accidentally neglect. That is either a beautiful responsibility or a terrifying one depending on the day. What I know for certain after doing this for fifteen years: 🚫 Money alone does not keep great people 🚫 Assuming you know what motivates someone without asking is always wrong 🚫 Ignoring culture until it becomes a problem is the most expensive mistake a founder makes The questions worth asking your team right now: 👉 Why are you actually here? 👉 What do you want to be in three years? 👉 What would make this the best job you have ever had? Yes this has nothing to do with your customers. Yes it was not in the plan. Yes it makes everything more complicated. It also makes you a better leader, a better builder, and eventually someone who looks back at the team they built and feels genuinely proud of what they created together. That part is worth every complicated conversation. #Entrepreneurship #SmallBusiness #businesseducation
