Yesterday, the news breaks that Takeoff passed away at the age of 29. The man was an architect of the modern trap sound. Sicko mode, look alive, non-stop. An absolute powerhouse. But look at the calendar. He was found on June 18th. Does that day sound familiar? That's the exact same day that XXXTentacion was taken off the board in 2018. In the entertainment ecosystem, this day is already an algorithmic booster pump. It's a day when the traffic spikes, the data surges, and then music just streams to and to have another massive, independent force just drop out of the exact same day. The exact same day. Especially in a where major labels and Drake are all facing massive power shifts while they're facing a liquidity crisis. The irony is extremely loud right now. And what's even more crazier is the total radio silence from the top. We haven't seen Drake post a single thing about someone that he's benefited from so heavily. Takeoff literally built the foundation for some of his biggest records. But nothing but no tribute. There's no story, just absolute silence. Just absolute silence. Well, you know, your streams are about to just explode, and you're about to benefit from someone not being around anymore. Not making accusations, the irony.
