I made a video about these AI slot posters you see all the time from local businesses. The video got a lot of views and a lot of strong opinions from people on the internet. There were essentially two camps of people in the comments. First camp was very anti AI. They said if they see these AI posters they would actively avoid the business because it shows a fundamental lack of care. They said if the first touch point they see of your business is an AI poster they see this as a signal to simply avoid you all together. However, the other camp pushed back saying that local businesses often don't have the resources to pay a designer for a poster, especially if it's just a one-off event. They argue that as long as the poster does the job and converts, then businesses should absolutely be using chatGPT for posters. Now, I understand that not every local business has the resources to pay a designer to make every single piece of their marketing material, but I also don't think they should be printing out the first piece of slop that chatGPT gives them. I think most people real issue doesn't come from the fact that a business is using AI. comes from the fact that they are obviously using AI. and it comes across as a bit of a slap in the face. I think if you're a small business, you do simply have to learn how to use AI to start winning some of your time back. And if you refuse to do it, the competition will get ahead. However, based on the comments of this video, you also have to understand that there does seem to be quite a negative reaction to AI being used in front facing marketing materials.
