If you have a Discover student credit card or any credit card from Discover, I have some news for you. One of the most popular starter cards in America is about to go through a major change. Last year 2025, Capital One acquired Discover and that transition is starting this year. Starting July 27th of this year, Discover cardholders will be transitioning into Capital One system. This means that over time, you will be managing your account through Capital One's apps and websites instead of Discover's. Capital One has stated that you will continue to earn your existing rewards and popular benefits like cashback match alongside rotating 5% categories, which are expected to remain for now. And depending on how all this plays out, some cardholders may gain access to additional perks like Capital One offers, Capital One travel benefits, and Capital One entertainment experiences. So if you currently have a Discover student credit card, first of all, please do not close it because that will be detrimental to your credit score. Just keep your utilization low, make your payments on time and in full, and keep an eye out on communications from Discover and Capital One. And do you guys think that Capital One will make Discover better or worse? Very curious to see these opinions.
