I hit Coast Fire at 55. Last week I hit Coast Fire at the age of 55. That means I could stop investing today and still be able to fully retire by 55. Today, my wife and I have $714,000 invested, which means that by 55, even if we stop investing, we would have $3 million. That's just because over this money is gonna be compounding on average 7% per year. Our spending, if you take out childcare and our mortgage, is about $7,000 per month. Now, at $3 million, technically, we could live off of $12,000 per month. This is because, this money is continuing to grow. There's a huge gap here, but I wanted to factor in the event that we wanted to increase our spending during retirement. We could stop investing, or we could continue to invest $4,000 per month, then stop six years from now when we turn 40. Assuming normal market returns, that would get us to, like, $1.4 million. And if we would actually shorten our full retirement age to 50. I make a lot of personal finance and one of the comments that I get is, why would I want to invest that money if I can't even touch it until I'm old? Just show this like I actually of late. At 28, and now at 34, I'm taking a sabbatical for the next year at least. You should totally so that you when you get you should also invest your money so that you can give yourself more options right now.
