I'm done saving for retirement at 37 and this year I am technically done saving for retirement. I've hit something called Coast FIRE, which is where my current investments will grow enough with compound interest over the next 23 years without adding another dollar for a healthy retirement at age 60. Saving for retirement feels so hard because your funding today's expenses while saving for your future expenses and retirement. So hitting Coast FIRE means you no longer have to worry about saving for your future self. This means you can take a lower paying, less stressful job, take a career break, or just have a lot more flexibility in what you do for work. You can literally coast to retirement. Let's break it down. Let's break down my actual numbers. I currently have $982,626 invested. At 7% returns, which has been the inflation adjusted rate of return of the stock market for the last 100 years, this could be an estimated $5.24 million by age 60. With a withdrawal rate of 4%, this could be an annual retirement income of about $210,000 in today's dollars. This does not mean I'm hitting the brakes on investing. I have a goal to invest $100,000 this year and to retire way earlier than 60. So if you like money, income transparency, and entrepreneurship, give this video a like and follow for more.
