You might have OCD Because your ass is addicted to control. Probably because at one point in your life you didn't feel safe. You didn't have a stable environment. So your mind and your brain wanted to latch onto control of something. But the more you try to control your mind, the more that you suffer. Deep down, though, you wanna control because you want safety. But the real way you get to safety and peace is not to control your mind or the things around you. It's to relinquish the need for control itself. And it's essentially the Serenity Prayer. Learning to control the things that you can, which is where you choose to place your attention and your actions and letting go of everything else. You can't control the automatic thoughts that enter your mind. You can't control getting triggered. You can't control the way people treat you. You can't control the things that happen to you. But you can control how you react and perceive your thoughts. You can control the daily actions that you take. And if you master those two things, you can find significant relief from OCD. And get into recovery. And I say that because that's exactly what I did. And that's exactly how I got my life back. I went from severe, debilitating OCD. To happy to healthy, to chasing my passion and my purpose, to having peace of mind for the first time in my life in 25 fucking years. The goal is not control. The goal is safety. And the way you get to safety is by letting go.
