So how interesting in some parts of Limpopo, having too many avocado trees has actually become you see avocados grow in almost every household there, making it surprisingly difficult for the small farmers to sell their fruit locally. But where most people saw an oversupply problem, husband and wife co-founders Hulisani and Hulisani, saw a business opportunity. You see, instead of trying to compete in an already crowded market, they started turning lower grade avocados into avocado oil. And by processing that fruit close to their business, Ecovado, is helping reduce waste, create local jobs and give farmers another route to market. Now, it's a simple idea, but it does highlight something that many successful entrepreneurs understand. That the best opportunities are often hidden inside problems that everyone else has learned to live with.
