I was giving my daughter a bath last night and I was looking at how tan she got cause we've been in the pool every single day. And I was telling her, I was like, aww, Does this mean You're enjoying summer? Cause she was like, tan all over, but there's this one spot on her nose that's like her original skin colour. And I was like, you must be really enjoying summer. And she was like jumping up and down saying, "I love this summer" And then immediately at that moment, I had like, flashbacks to my childhood where I was like, genuinely forced to believe that I had to stay out of the sun in the summer or else I'm gonna get too dark or look dirty, like what they say in Sylheti Bangla "MOILA" And I'm just like, bro, why? Why was the older generation like that? Like, what the hell was wrong with them? I literally could not enjoy the sun growing up. I remember the year that I was getting married, I went to Disney with all of my friends as like my bachelorette trip. And I wore a black sweater in the middle of June at Florida. Okay, that's hot. Hot in June. I was wearing a black sweater in Disney cause I didn't wanna, uh, get too dark for my wedding or else the elders in my family would have been like, totally pissed, especially my in laws, you know what I mean? And I was just like, Why? Why is that a thing? Like, when I see my daughter tanned and getting dark, I'm like, oh, yeah, she's enjoying summer. Whereas they see, like, oh, my god. Like, they need to get inside and not be under the sun. I swear, that generation needs to, like, get their effing life together.
