The Worst Skincare Trends I've seen on the Internet today. Because I'm a medical aesthetician that knows what she's talking about. And I get asked this question all the time. All the time. How long should I wait in between each skincare step in order for it to absorb properly? You do not need to wait five minutes or two minutes or one minute and you do not need to fan your skin in between each skincare step. Especially if you're using a hyaluronic acid. Because hyaluronic acid specifically needs to cling onto water in order for it to work. So say you apply your toner, dry it completely, and then apply your hyaluronic acid on top of that, you're going to get the opposite effect. You're going to dry out your skin. The only ingredient you need to wait to completely dry is hypochlorous acid. That's a video for another day. And if you want to get technical, then if you're using a vitamin C that's an ascorbic acid specifically, you also need your skin to be completely dry before applying it as well. Because we don't want extra irritation. Moving on. And a professional literally said this to my face. She didn't know I was a medical aesthetician that knows what she's talking about. She told me you are not allowed to use a retinol during the summertime. Why? You're telling me people in Florida who have summer all year round can't use retinol ever? You're actually supposed to use your retinol all year round. Blank period. Also it's so freaking hot in Canada right now. Wearing a sweater is overwhelming me. I can't do this series. I can't do this. I can't do this.
