Why it worked

The video leverages a common 'debunking myths' format within the popular skincare niche, presented by a credible source (dermatology resident), making it highly shareable and engaging.

Summary

A dermatology resident debunks common skincare myths, stating that drinking water doesn't fix acne unless dehydrated, steam doesn't open pores, eye creams aren't superior to moisturizers, natural products aren't inherently safer, and dark circles are often due to thin skin, not fixable by creams.

5 more hills I will die on as a dermatology resident. 1. Drinking water fixes acne? Drinking more water does nothing for your skin if you weren't already dehydrated, it's not gonna fix your acne. 2. Steam opens pores? Steam doesn't open your pores, don't have muscles. Your pores don't have muscles. 3. "Eye cream"? There are no trials showing that specific eye creams beat anything moisturizer does. 4. "Natural" products Natural is not safer. Fragrances actually cause like 10 times more allergies than parabens. 5. Dark circles Most dark circles are just hollow or thin skin. No cream's gonna fix that. Let me know what I got wrong.
